Digital Forensics Content Portal

The goal was to create a premium channel to host technical digital forensics (DF) content that enables DF team members, along with Marketing and Sales teams, to more effectively qualify and convert leads while expanding the existing DF client base.

The portal was strategically built on a CMS framework, allowing the Digital Forensics, Marketing, and Sales teams to independently update content without relying on developer support.

Role

I defined an intuitive information architecture and user flows, conducted stakeholder interviews and research, iterated wireframes to meet WCAG accessibility standards. I partnered with stakeholders to align business requirements and analytics with our designs, then collaborated with developers, providing guidance and quality‑checking implementations, to ensure the final product matched our UX & business vision.

Challenge

The DF team generates highly technical resource materials aimed at educating legal and insurance claim professionals who depend on digital evidence for their cases or claims. However, the current distribution methods, emailing content post-event/conference or posting on the company website, lack engagement tracking, intent-to-buy insights, or conversion rate measurement. To improve effectiveness, we needed a centralized platform with measurable success metrics, including:

- Number of downloads
- Download-to-meeting conversion rate
- Downloads-to-new-matter conversion rate

Event success metrics:
- Account sign-ups per event
- Downloads per event

Strategy

To address these challenges, we designed a login-based portal where users create an account to access thought leadership resources. In return for these premium materials, users consent to be contacted by Envista. The DF, Marketing, and Sales teams would then leverage this contact information for direct outreach, lead qualification, and sales engagement.

Audience

- Attorneys Insurance
- Claims Professionals
- Law Enforcement Officials

Distribution Channels

- Direct website access (SEO)
- Educational conferences (using custom QR codes in presentations to
facilitate account setup and resource downloads)
- Email marketing campaigns

Requirements & Features

To streamline user access and engagement, the portal was designed with a balance of free and gated content:

Homepage
(Freemium Access)

User Registration Requirements

- First Name
- Last Name
- Email Address
- Company
- Job Title

Premium Resource Library
(Post-Login View)

Once registered, users gain access to a clean, intuitive resource library designed with both user experience and business goals in mind. Following UX best practices, the interface clearly displays the user's logged-in status to reinforce access permissions and encourage engagement. A smart search bar allows users to easily locate files by name or content type, while resources are neatly organized into technology-specific categories, ensuring quick, relevant access for legal and claims professionals. This gated experience not only supports lead qualification and conversion, but also delivers a streamlined, professional content hub that meets the high expectations of digital forensics clients.

Content Management & Flexibility

The portal was strategically built on a CMS framework, allowing the Digital Forensics, Marketing, and Sales teams to independently update content without relying on developer support. This empowers internal stakeholders to easily upload new files, update copy, and swap out graphics as needed, keeping resources current and relevant. Separating content management from development allows the team to make updates quickly and independently, streamlining workflows and reducing reliance on technical resources. It also ensures consistent alignment with business goals and evolving client needs.

Future state

While the portal is live yet, the foundational structure is in place to support a seamless user experience and strategic business outcomes. Once launched, the platform will serve as a centralized hub for premium digital forensics content, helping drive lead generation, track engagement, and improve conversion rates. Future enhancements will focus on optimizing content based on user behavior, expanding advanced filtering options, and incorporating performance analytics to continuously refine the experience and maximize value for both users and internal teams.
